119th Independence Day in the Philippines

Independence day is one of the significant events in the Philippine history.   Because it marks our independence from Spanish rule.  This Independence Day celebrates by the Filipino people annually on June 12.  This is the day wherein many people participates in different activities in the country.  There are programs and activities in the city hall, parks, streets and the likes.  The highligths of this celebration is the police and military parade in Manila and the 21-gun salute.  Of course this celebration is headed by the country’s president.  This significant day of the country is observed by the filipino communities.  For this day is the day where we can say we are finally free.

Yesterday was the 119th years of Philippine Independence.  This is one sad celebration I must say because of the crisis that the country is facing now.  Some area in the country particularly in Mindanao is still on war.  Many lives has been sacrifice just to achieve peace against the Maute group (terrorist).  Today, the country is giving tribute to those 58 brave men who fought and lost their lives for the country.  It is really sad knowing that we are all brothers and sisters and living in one country but fighting.  I pray that this will be over soon so that we can live in peace and harmony.  I so wish that love and forgiveness will prevail and that God will heal all the wounds in our hearts and healour country for us to have a better place to live.

For the welfare of the people

The country (Philippines) is facing a crisis now in Marawi City.  The military operation is continuing and the government military troops has sent to rescue the affected civilians against the Muslim militants named the Maute group.  Because of this crisis, the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte puts the entire Mindanao in Martial Law.  This is to protect the city, country and the people in affected areas.  It is just so sad that some are against the president’s decision for some reason.  Bashing him and said something bad about this.  Even calling the President a dictator.

The war against the Maute group is still on going.  Many troops have sent in Marawi city.  And the anti-duterte group/people are attacking him. I do not really understand why they are doing it and why they are so mad about the president.  Felt like they still can’t accept the fact that their candidate loss during the election.  Instead of supporting the president and praying for the goodness of the country and the people.  The president is thinking of the welfare of the people, no more no less.  The martial law is just temporary until this Maute group crushed.  With God intervention.

I pray that this war will end soon and peace will prevail.  Let us make love not war because we live in the same country, and most of all, we are all brothers and sisters in God’s eyes.   And I thank God for giving us a good and loving president.

Dengue Fever

I was once a victim of dengue fever and thank God I never experience the worse.  I easily recovered after a week of treatment.  I must admit it really scares me to death.  I came to the point of thinking the worse.  I even told my older sister that I do not want to die yet.  At first I thought it was just a simple fever but when had severe headache, I told my father to bring me to the doctor.  Good thing I was not admitted.  The doctor told me the things to do, medicines to take and told me to drink lots of water and energy drink (gatorade to be exact).

Dengue fever is one deadly infection/disease that is threatening the people in my country (Philippines).  There are lots of dengue cases in my city now, and the local government is declaring a dengue outbreak.  There are 25 reportedly died of dengue fever in my city.  And this is really scary.  People are encouraged to help in cleaning their area, houses, offices, stagnant water, and many others.  Dengue fever is no joke.  I have seen on the news the young victims of this deadly disease and it is really sad.  Let us help the local government in solving this dengue fever disease.  And let us save our precious life.

National day of mourning

44 PNP-SAF commandos killed last Sunday morning on their mission to get the most wanted Marwan, a Malaysian national who is responsible for some bombings incidents. “Misencounter”, “Massacre”, “Trapped”, “Ambushed”, these are the speculations of what really happens on their missions. The 44 Special Action Force where brutally killed, “double-dead”, as what others call it because they shot many times even if they are already dead. They were killed and robbed by their opponents. It was painful and shocking news because of what happened to the SAF commandos knowing that there were peace talk agreement between the government and the rebels.

Today, January 30, 2015 is the national day of mourning of the country for the fallen 44 SAF commandos. They served the country and the people till their last breath. Though the nature of their profession requires their lives, however, by the way they were killed is so inhuman. It really breaks my heart seeing them photos, hearing their love ones, comrades. These 44 SAF were new heroes of the country. They deserved to be remembered by the people and tribute. May they rest in peace and hope that justice will be given to them and to their families. I salute to the fallen 44 Special Action Force!

He made a history

Winter Olympics happens every four years.  Mostly, the country that participated in this event is that country that has winter season.  I haven’t watch winter Olympics for real or in television coverage before but I heard a lot about this winter Olympic.  The sports that I like are the figure skating and speed skating.  I find these two entertaining and exciting especially the figure skating.  Watching figure skating is like watching dance sport.  My first ever favorite figure skater is Michelle Kwan from the USA.  When she performed, she really owns the stage and the audiences as well as the judges love her.

The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia is interesting.  It is because there is one contender from South East Asia.  He is Michael Christian Martinez from the Philippines, the first ever contender from tropical country.  Because of him, the country has live coverage of the 2014 Winter Olympics.  Many  intrigued and surprised.  People are interested to see how he performs.  I watched him performs in the short and long program.  He did great.  Out of 30 figure skaters, he finished in 19th place.  Not bad for his debut on the ice rink.  He made a history for the country and for the South East Asia country.  I am looking forward for his appearance in the 2018 Winter Olympics.  I am pretty sure he will be one of the figure skaters to watch for.
